Here it is, it's not going to be popular.
There is no problem with the new Corvette, it looks good and apparently drives well.
The problem is the attitude that accompanies it, this surge of pent up Americanism that means no-one outside of the continental U.S can say anything nice about its for fear of hearing 'BEST CAR IN THE WORLD EVER, MUUURICA!'.
God forbid you say anything bad, because the teenage-esque shit slinging begins.
I know this isn't all you Americans, but unfortunately there are enough of you for the dimwitted, loud, mouth breathers to be heard.
And it continues with Jalopniks story on the new Audi S1. A good number of comments are either: 'not coming to America, don't care' or 'why do Europeans buy such stupid cars, Americans don't buy hatchbacks, so why do people even make them?'. Quick answer, because they fit our market, same as the F-150 sells over there due to cheap fuel and open spaces.
So this isn't meant to be an attack on America, just a friendly reminder to everyone.
No-one likes a fanboy.

On oppo it's the same thing but different car. It's always the answer (Miata). BTW I do love the stingray. My dad had a C6 Z06 and it was insane and he's unsure of whether he wants to get a regular stingray with the z51 package or the new Z06.

Also we shouldn't blame the cars for their stupid owners/fans

You're new here aren't you... I'm confused as to what you are grumbling about. To quote "Literally; what?"

What I was grumbling about when I started was that any discussion about the corvette inevitably ends up with someone declaring 'It's the best car in the world , and it's from America, therefore America is the best country in the world'.
Then I had read the story on the S1 and went to read the comments and was annoyed to find the majority of them were ' its not coming to America, why should we care' and I was all prepared to launch into rant mode.
Then I went of Facebook and this douche i used to work with posted approximately 1 million supra posts (as he has a N/A/ Auto) and I realised that maybe I was sounding a bit racialist.
Maybe its just a fanboy thing...You could insert supra, e30, e36 M3, 911, Mustang, vtec etc into my title and I would probably end up saying roughly the same thing.

Yeah... that's why we all stay off the FP.
I never have heard someone say the corvette is the best car in the world.

For give my ignorance but what is FP? I just saw someone else post an article about it as well.

Front Page. The main Jalopnik cite. This is Oppo where people are generally friendly and respectful. The FP is known around here for narrow minded trolls and ass holes.

You get the same thing from fans of any object that has any competition. Corvette people catch a lot of flak from Euro-snobs as well, so it works both ways. Yes, the new Corvette has issues. Every car does. The trouble starts when a member of one fandom starts insulting the members of other fandoms simply for being as such.
The laws of physics dictate that for every action, there be an equal and opposite reaction. They call us stupid, we (I use the term figuratively, I don't generally get involved) call them stupid back. So here we all are, victims of mathematics.
As for the "over-active American pride" issue, it's actually kind of counter-intuitive to consider. There's this kind of low national self-esteem over here (you can almost smell it) because the USA seems to catch nothing but heat these days so people look for any chance to feel good about where they live. One could argue that even if there were good things said about the USA, it would simply inflate egos, but I remember when Europe thought the USA was cool and the USA thought Europe was cool. Nowadays? USA is the devil and wants to take over the world while Europe is a bunch of pansies riding a slow economic train to oblivion. That's the sentiment. Why is that the sentiment? Because our respective regions have serious, recent issues and it's far easier (and more profitable) to point out what's wrong with your neighbors than it is to fix those issues. Why can't we all just be friends?

Well said!
